The International Sculpture Symposium was first held in 2006 in the village of Venerato to honour the art of sculpture, an art whose presence in Greece has always been remarkable and multifaceted since ancient times. From that year onwards the festival has been held each summer featuring numerous renowned artists from Greece and abroad. The events usually take place within the village, where you can stroll and admire the superb edifices of the Venetian era and the nearby Holy Monastery Of Panagia Paliani, one of the oldest in Crete. Moreover, many free parallel events and art workshops for all ages take place.
